"The six members of St. Paul hip-hop crew Heiruspecs have never been showcased quite as beautifully as they are in this elegant video for “On the Ground,” - The Current

In collaboration with 1LightFilms, Ben handled cinematography and editing for a recent Heiruspecs music video. Heiruspecs is a hip-hop group out of St. Paul and, in 2004, was named the best live band in the Twin Cities. Shot in the summer and early winter of 2014, the video launched the release of their fist new album after a 6 year hiatus.

It's featured in the City Pages as a music video of the week, and on The Current music blog as well.

“Getting an audience is hard. Sustaining an audience is hard. It demands a consistency of thought, of purpose, and of action over a long period of time.” - Bruce Springsteen

I have had the priveledge of editing three motion poems, all shot and directed by Jeff Saunders and Scott Olson. Motion Peoms is on it's fourth season of partnering poets and some of the most talented animators and filmmakers in the Twin Citeis. Each team receives a curated poem, but beyond that we have complete creative freedom with interpritation and execution.

This means that the editor has to make sense of an especially deep collection of abstract, vivid, and dispereate shots.  It's at the editing stage that the poem and imagry find their magical bond.
